ANY LUBRICANT YOU SEE IN NATA NEWS IS OF HIGH QUALITY
With heart filled-up with genuine appreciation, I welcome you all to this historical gathering!
The Yorubas have a talking drum called, Gangan. It has two faces that look alike. History attributed its evolution to Oyo Empire; where it was initially used as a form of communication ‘device’ to arouse the Paramount Ruler from sleep; early morning on daily basis; and to which he danced to whenever there was need for merriment.
In this event today, I will be acting the Gangan with two faces that somehow look alike too.
To God be the glory as I am divinely privileged to be the Initiator as well as the President of Automobiles And Road Safety Initiative; which was established in March, 2013.
The establishment of this NGO can be traced to my personal activities and rapport with the officials and members of Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association; which I first introduced NATA News to in 1995.
The main Objectives of Automobiles And Road Safety Initiatives are: “Promotion of Standard Work Ethics among Auto Repair Technicians; to comply with Auto Manufacturers’ Specifications.”
Also, to use the platform for “Advocacy in the area of production, importation and usage of only genuine auto spare parts and lubricants,” by concerned stakeholders.
Some years ago, we were at a Re-Orientation Seminar in Oshodi area of Lagos State, Nigeria specially organized for technicians at which many of today’s participants were present.
Why we couldn’t continue with the technicians was due to the magnitude of accidents that occurred on Nigerian Roads; which invariably made us to shift attention to organizing several Road Safety related seminars for School Children, members of the NRTWU, RTEAN, Urban Traffic Management Workshop for stakeholders, Causes and Prevention of Vehicle Fire outbreak; also for stakeholders; among others.
However today, Nigeria is flooded with fake auto spare parts and lubricants; which somehow has neither helped the average Nigeria auto technician to be praised for doing an excellent job, nor the car owner; who bore the brunt of repeated calls at the vehicle repair workshops; where he/she kept paying hugely for unsatisfactory jobs.
Now with NATA News at hand and with determination on the part of the Board of Trustees of Automobiles And Road Safety Initiative, I am pleased to inform you that we’ll do our best possible to sensitise the stakeholders in the industry to the dangers of using fake auto parts and lubricants.
Annually as you may be most pleased, we’ll bring to you this event which is today christened as NATA News Annual Road Safety Conference & Workshop.
With your support and those of sponsors, we’ll expand the focus to make you derive maximum benefits from it.
Meanwhile, on behalf of the Editorial Team of NATA News, the Board of Trustees of Automobiles And Road Safety Initiative, I want to specially congratulate the Corps Marshal, who is also the Chief Executive of Federal Road Safety Commission, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi who through hard work earned another term of continual service to his father-land recently.
In the same vein, I want to say a very big thank you to our backers, our motivators per excellence: the Board of Directors and Management of 11 Plc (formerly Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc), Eterna Plc, Seahorse Lubricant Industries Limited, MRS Oil Nigeria Plc, Ammasco Oil International Limited and Forte Oil Plc; among others.
Whenever this type of gathering is taking place, it is only the producers of standard, genuine products you will see to showcase their wares. And please take note; patronize only the genuine products in order not to disappoint your teeming customers. Very importantly, whichever lubricant you see in NATA News is of high quality mind you!
While not wanting to take much of your time, I thank every one of you that has taken the sacrifice of precious time to be here with us at this event. I congratulate and thank our new Grand Patrons in advance, with the conviction that they are going to be there for us at all times: Mr. Tunji Oyebanji (Managing Director of 11 Plc; new owners of Mobil Oil), Mr. Mahmud Tukur (Managing Director of Eterna Plc) and Comrade Magaji Muhammad Sani (NATA National President).
The FRSC family, Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service, Lagos State Fire Service, Nigeria Police Force (Lagos State Police Command), Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, NATA National Secretariat, NATA Lagos State Chapter Secretariat, the Distinguished Guests, Chairmen, Guest Speakers and indeed other participants, too numerous to mention by name, I thank you for coming.
God bless you all!
